Places to See
Fountains at the Bellagio
Every half hour from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., then every 15 minutes from then until midnight, the massive 8.5-acre fountain erupts with a show unlike any other. With 1,214 jets that send the water up to 460 feet in the air, the fountains perfectly synchronize with music from old school stars like Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley, to modern day artists like EDM DJ, Tiesto. It’s one of the few truly free things in Vegas, and with show times so often, there’s no reason not to make a stop for the iconic attraction.
Known as the “Old Las Vegas Strip”, Fremont Street is a can’t-miss spot in Downtown Las Vegas. Gone are the days when this area was simply known for cheap hotels and cheap gambling. With recent updates and renovations over the past few years, Fremont Street has been given a new breath of life, and serves as a fun break when you need a respite from the pricier Las Vegas strip. Though it’s open 24/7, we recommend visiting at night to see the street signs and massive LED canopy glitter with light. Enjoy the quirky shops, live acts, and great food on this street of old Las Vegas.
Fall of Atlantis Show
Sure, it might not have the same notoriety as some of Vegas’s other performances, but you can’t beat free! This show at the Caesars Forum Shops is an animatronic spectacle with fire, water, and towering talking statues, depicting the dramatic story of Atlantis choosing which son would take the throne. At the base of the display sits an impressive 50,000 gallon saltwater tank, displaying over 100 species of sea life. Though brief, the show of lasers, fire, fog and water is a thrilling event for the whole family.
Things to Do
Standing at 1,149 feet tall, the Stratosphere Tower is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States. It’s unique structure makes it a part of the Las Vegas skyline that you’re sure to recognize, and once at the top, you’re greeted with a magnificent 360 degree view of glittering Las Vegas. If you time it right, you can catch the sunset, have dinner in the Top of the World restaurant, then look out as the city lights up in the dark.
Downtown Container Park
The Downtown Container Park (DCP) is an open-air shopping and entertainment complex, built from 43 re-purposed shipping containers, as well as 41 locally manufactures modular “Xtreme Cubes”. In addition to the usual shopping and dining destinations located in the park, there are also constant events held at the park – including karaoke, yoga, and beer tastings. Check out their calendar to see if any of the events during your stay strike your fancy!
Taking you 490 feet over the Vegas strip, the VooDoo Zipline is an off-the-wall experience for visiting thrillseekers. Starting in the VooDoo Lounge of the Rio’s 50-story Masquerade tower, guests fly across the 1/10 of a mile line at speeds up to 33 mph. How do you get back to the starting point? You ride the zipline backwards, of course!
The VooDoo Zipline seats two people at a time, so bring a friend and enjoy the ride. At the end, riders enjoy complimentary entry to the VooDoo Rooftop Nightclub and Lounge.
Gold Strike Hot Springs Trailhead
While not located on the Las Vegas strip, this hot springs hike is worth the 40 minute drive just outside the city. The trailhead is located between Boulder City and the Hoover Dam, and is the perfect break to nature after a few busy days and wild nights in the city.
